Legends No. 132

Legends safe no. 132 is a splendid example of the style of the Napoleon III era. It was constructed for a German merchant in 1890 at Louis Philippe in Liege, Belgium. The opening unit consists of a sophisticated four-letter combination lock that was highly unusual for its time. Inside we find automatic watch winders and jewelry compartments made of glossy polished poplar bird’s eye wood. During the restoration process, the experts at Döttling intentionally chose 1890 to retain the piece’s existing traces of use and to merely harmonize them with color. They underscore the eventful history of this antique strongbox.
